Hi everyone. (⊙‿⊙✿) Today I'm "honestly stealing" a tag of the "Lolita Blog Carnival" group on Facebook. I haven't being accepted there yet but I think this theme is interesting and I first saw it at Päivänvarjon alla. So, I asked her if I could post the subjetc here, she said it's OK, so here I am. I'll be posting in English to follow the group's rules and to interact with the international lolita community. I don't know if I'll succeed at it, but I am willing to try. (◕‿◕✿)
Reaction to wearing Lolita (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
First of all, I have to say that I use lolita style since 2004. Of course that back then I was a totally fail for today's standards, but I think that people's reactions didn't change so much, for what they consider too much exotic or different at first sight. For some reason, back then, they usually pointed at me, asking "Are you a satanist?", probably because I was always wearing gothic lolita and trying (failing) to look like Mana-sama desu. ╮(╯_╰)╭

Nowadays, reactions became a little more positive. Well, let's just say that my fashion sense also became more positive... ~(¯▽¯)~ And yet people can't help but acting like we have came from another planet or something.
From city to city
I am now living in São Paulo, but I came from a much smaller city, called Belo Horizonte. There, people are more closed minded, more traditional and usually react more badly to what is different. ╮(╯3╰)╭ Here in São Paulo, people are more used to see different fashion styles, not only lolita, so I have the feeling that I attract much less negative reactions here. In Curitiba, my friend's home city, people are more cold and individual, so when I'm there, I think people are usually more respectful, or at least they don't express too much what they think about lolita.

| Even this can attract attention ╮(╯▽╰)╭ |
Sometimes, I think that some nasty behaviors are a brazilian thing. We are known for being a warm-welcoming people, and sometimes this can turn into something awful. That means people here don't have too much sense of individuality and usually will stare at you, make rude comments, point at you and so on. This happen in every city I went wearing something different (not only lolita), only changing the intensity from city to city. _(︶︿︶)_
It's not only bad things *✧・゚:* \(◕‿◕✿)/ *:・゚✧*
Of course that we do have the good parts, and they are usually more intense, more frequent and more motivating. Everytime me and my friends wear lolita together, at least one person says:
"You looks like a doll!"
"So pretty, can I take a picture with all of you? Can I post it on Facebook?"
"What style is that?"
Some people ask questions that we are tired to answer, but we won't be rude with them or anything like that.
"Is this a fantasy party?"
"Are you an actress? Where is the theather?"
And we do have the epic moments. The moment when a little girl ask your friend if she is a mermaid. The moment when a mom with her little baby wants a picture with your friend. When someone from the internet (that you don't know) see you, recognize the lolita style and ask for a picture, and chat a little with you, charmed because he found a lolita walking around. And as for me, particulary, I always get very charmed when someone recognize me as someone who helped build the lolita scene in Brazil, even when I didn't use lolita style for some years. ~(◠‿◕✿)
But I must confess...
...that I don't like very much to wear lolita all by myself. I feel uncomfortable with the comments and the staring, when I'm alone. I do not deal very well with this, it's more easy to bear when you're with your friends. With them, I can laught at the nasty comments and turn all of this into a joke. So, I usually don't wear lolita day by day... (〒︿〒)
